OK. So here's what you can try...
1. Quit all open Applications
2. Verify that you have good line-of-sight between the SMART Bluetooth adapter plugged DIRECTLY (not using a USB splitter) into your computer and the SMARTboard
3. Go to the SMARTboard and press and hold the top button until the light begins to rapidly flash
4. Quickly go to the computer and press and hold the button until the light begins to rapidly flash
5. Once both device lights are solid GREEN, launch the Notebook app
